Renewables and Environmental Regulatory Institute\nwould like to address the media and the interested public regarding the statements\nmedia reported yesterday, given by some of the most prominent Belgrade city\nofficials, MPs and the Public Company \u201cSkijali\u0161ta Srbije\u201d, an investor in the U\u0161\u0107e-Kalemegdan\ncable car construction project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this regard, RERI would like to\ninform the interested public and the media of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In fact, the construction permit RERI sought to be rescinded as illegal states its purpose as to allow \u2018the performance of preparatory works for the construction of the cable car station at Kalemegdan<\/strong><\/em>\u2019. Said construction permit refers to location conditions<\/em> that have been obtained for the cable car construction project and that represents a document issued prior to the construction permit for a specific structure (project), pursuant to the Law on Planning and Construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Preparatory works performed on the\nspecific site are works preceding the building construction and as such, pursuant\nto the provisions of the Law on Planning and Construction, are an integral part\nof the construction process the construction permit is issued for. It means\nthat a construction permit was necessary for the works performed so far,\nincluding the felling of trees on the abovementioned parcel, which, according\nto publicly available information, was not the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A construction permit is a publicly available document that can be\naccessed at the Business Registers Agency web site, in its section for building\npermits issued in a joint procedure. RERI encloses the first page of the permit\nhere, the dispositive of which clearly suggests what type of works it referred\nto. The facts that archaeological examination has not been adequately conducted\nand that project\u2019s environmental impact remained undefined, are the reasons\nRERI filed a lawsuit before the Administrative Court, requesting that the said construction\npermit be revoked. <\/p>\n\n\n\n RERI hereby appeals to the authorities\nand institutions to strictly comply with the regulations and to interpret them\ncorrectly, without attempting to manipulate their meaning. The Institute also\ncalls on all parties involved to stop politicizing the matter which is of the\nutmost interest for all residents of Belgrade, as well as all citizens of\nSerbia and its cultural heritage and to stop diverting public attention from\nthe heart of the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Renewables and Environmental Regulatory Institutepress release (in Serbian) is available here<\/a>.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
