Renewables\nand Environmental Regulatory Institute (RERI) condemn verbal assaults directed\nto judge of Appeal Court of Justice \u2013 Miodrag Majic, created by representatives\nof legislative and executive authorities. This type of behaviour is\nunacceptable for public servants in the society which pledge to be considered\nas democratic and pluralistic, at least in a declarative manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During\nhis public appearances, especially those pertaining to latest amendments of\nSerbian Criminal Act, Judge Majic managed to set ethical, professional and\ncommunicational standards, unfortunately, elusive for representatives of public\nauthorities which have insulted him in unacceptable manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Assaults\nfocused to judge Majic are not exception; rather, they became rule in acting of\npublic officials in almost each situation when they do not agree with public\ncriticism. Critical and expert opinion of judge Majic is based on knowledge and\narguments and was elaborated transparently, in public debate and with deepest\nrespect for his interlocutor. Questions raised by judge Majic deserve reasoned\nresponds, instead of personal accusations and insults directed to damage reputation\nof judge Majic; instead, insulting reputation of the National Assembly itself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Public\ndiscussion conducted in accordance with the applicable laws, instead of insults\npronounced in State Assembly, would be considered as proper and reasonable response,\nsuitable for the Government and members of the National Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
RERI especially condemns laic comments of court verdicts from the\npairlament member Risticevic Marjan, in a manner which intends to throw a\nshadow on objecticity and impartiality of court decisions, without any\nargumants and facts, which is not only unacceptable, but also may jeopardize\ncourt independance and security of the acting judge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By his publicly expresed opinion on a sugested amendments of\nrespective law, judge Majic took the stand and protected profesional integrity\nof entire legal profession and at the same time \u2013 freedom of speach. This is\nthe reason why all personal assultes addressed to him in this previous period,\nat the same time represent assults to rights granted to all citizens of our\ncountry, under the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
