As part of the project Fundamentals First – improving the rule of law and inclusiveness in the Western Balkans energy transition, RERI held a regional event in Podgorica focused on the energy transition and the role of parliaments in the Western Balkans.
The event brought together representatives of parliaments, international organizations, youth, energy experts, and civil society, who exchanged views and proposals on advancing the energy transition process in the region, with a particular focus on the role of national parliaments.
The key message from the event is that there can be no just and sustainable transition without the active and responsible participation of the legislative branch: “Parliaments play a key role in shaping a just and inclusive energy transition that aligns with the needs of the Western Balkans region.”
