Through this project RERI deals with foreign investments and projects of national importance with high corruption and environmental risks. Project will tackle the lack of law enforcement related to environmental inspections, weaknesses of environmental impact assessment procedures, and the lack of transparent and inclusive development of spatial and urban planning documents.
By monitoring projects of national importance declared by the Republic of Serbia, we seek for long-term change by developing effective legal instruments, tools and practice to prevent corruption, increase accountability for environmental governance, establish independent public scrutiny over pollution from energy intensive industries and improve transparency of the planning framework for foreign investments.
Activities:
- Monitoring the implementation of projects of national interests with high potential adverse environmental effects
- Strategic litigation in order to ensure environmental protection by the law
- Conference on legal perspectives of environmental protection
The project is being implemented from the 1st of July 2021 until the 1st of July, 2022 with the support of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.
