On June 11, 2025. as part of the regional project TERPEIS BALKANS – Triggering Emissions Reductions in the Power and Energy Intensive Sector, RERI organized a workshop on June 11 titled “Decarbonization through Public Policy Instruments in Serbia.”

During the workshop, specific examples were used to highlight the high risk of corruption in the area of climate policy, as well as the potential misuse of circular economy principles. Special focus was given to the social aspects of the energy transition, with a focus on the Just Transition Action Plan. It was emphasized that drafting additional strategic documents will be ineffective unless they are followed by concrete and measurable actions targeting affected communities.

In a dynamic and constructive discussion, participants shared their experiences, challenges, and recommendations for improving public policies related to decarbonization, stressing the importance of cross-sectoral cooperation and the active involvement of citizens in shaping policies that lead to a just and sustainable future.

The TERPEIS BALKANS project is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
