As part of the project “Old mountain for new generations – Towards accountable and inclusive biodiversity protection,” a two-day training titled “Improving Monitoring Procedures, Planning, Construction, Management, and Nature Protection within Stara Planina National Park” was organized in Pirot. During the training, associations from the Stara Planina region had the opportunity to learn more about national nature protection policies within the Stara Planina National Park.

Through a series of expert lectures, participants gained knowledge about the importance and application of the Stara Planina National Park Protection Study, spatial planning within the park, as well as the regulatory framework and available legal mechanisms for nature protection. The training also included a consultative meeting where participants exchanged experiences, challenges, and suggestions for improving field practices.

At the end of the training, a good practice example was presented through the project “Stara Planina – New Practices,” which showcases potential models of sustainable management and effective protection of natural resources in Stara Planina National Park. This project was organized by the TEAM organization from Leskovac.

The project is implemented within the BESTbelt project funded by the European Union.
